During the restoration of Taximtown Hotels a diary was found in a secret part of one of the walls. It reveals the traces of a great love and gives a spirited impression of the history and culture which existed about a hundred years ago. At that time the building belonged to Monsieur Levi who was a tailor at Beyoğlu. The diary tells us the desperate love of Mademoiselle Aline, the daughter of Monsieur Levy. She became fond of a Turkish officer who stayed at Pera Palace. Mademoiselle Aline used to watch at the window to see him. Even when it was snowing she would wait there to catch an eye of the beloved man. She resisted bravely to suitable candidates willing to marry her from her own community. But upon anger of the conservative circles, she finally had to marry Monsieur Hristo, a merchant at Beyoğlu who was 22 years older than her. Buildings might be scenes for love no matter if it was a hundred years ago or if it will happen in future. Buildings can be restored but unfortunately love and affection can not be restored.
